Description:
The focus of the Wine Culture Project is to educate both the novice and experienced wine drinker. In addition to writing about wine, the WCP holds wine tastings and classes for all those interested in learning more about what they put in their glass.
Within every glass of wine there is a story. The story of its origin goes beyond the varietal used and the label on the bottle. Who made the wine? Where were the grapes grown? Why does my wine smell like currants? And how was such a beautiful wine produced? There is beautiful and poignant French term used to describe wines sense of place terroir. Many wines exhibit a sense of place. Matt Kramer describes terroir as somewhereness. In the words of a friend, that sentiment is very genius.
Wine is important to people. From the soil to the glass, wine is a part of and helps form cultures. And the focus of this project will be to understand the different wine cultures of the world and give them their time in the sun.
