Description:
Makeda has the distinction of being New Jerseys first Ethiopian restaurant offering the very best in Ethiopian Cuisine in beautifully decorated, sleek contemporary surroundings. Designed by architect Francis " Ayo " Assaf, Makedas boasts a gallery for private events and two dining rooms in the main restaurant.
Makeda is truly a unique dinning adventure, a true Safari to Africa.
In addition to its outstanding food, Makeda offers live entertainment from 10.00pm Friday and Saturday nights which features some of the best African, Reggae, Salsa, R&B and Calypso bands in the area. A wall length window runs between the restaurant and the adjoining gallery. The window affords diners a picturesque view of imported African art on display. Makedas exceptional, striking decor also features standing light fixtures that mimic delicate trees as well as appointments over the bar and stage that evoke thoughts of thatched roof homes found in African Villages. Critics have been raving for years about the Beauty of Makeda and its resplendent atmosphere, which remains intimate in spite of dramatically high ceilings and parquet floors.
This New Brunswick Restaurant is sure to please!
Type of Meals Served:
Undoubtedly, the most important aspect of Makeda is its cuisine. Which is highly recommended for those who are desperately seeking food that is unusually excellent, and more exotic than most everything else your likely to find in New Jersey. Makedas food is complex revealing layers of aromatic spices and herbs. The compelling aroma of unfamiliar spices stimulates the appetite and prepares the adventurous patrons for exotic dishes. Makeda is truly a unique restaurant dinning adventure. A true Safari to another land far from New Brunswick.

Wow, Makeda's, located Downtown is a wonderful restaurant. The menu is Authenic Ethiopian, and the food is served with or without utensils. The food is spicy & flavorful. I love international restaurants. Makeda's has an African Art Gallery and live entertainment.
