I just saw some info on a Cash Mob and thought wow, what a great concept & exciting idea. We have so many fabulous locally owned businesses that I couldn't pick one to host the cash mob. We will be running a game / contest for a Central Jersey Cash mob.

The concept is for you to find a local business that is owned and operated by a member of your community; someone who supports the community and needs a little help! Go there on Saturday, March 24 and spend at least $20. Cash.

This influx of cash could be enough to save a struggling business. March 24 is National Cash Mob Day. We will be running a game or contest for those who participated!

Shop, dine, or patronize a locally owned and operated business in your community on Saturday March 24; and then enter to win a $25. Gift Certificate to Harmony Jewelers in the Hadley Center, on Stelton Road.

Edison, NJ - People of Distinction Nominations Sought The Edison Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the annual Outstanding Edison Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Business- Small, Medium, and Large, Outstanding Entrepreneur, and Outstanding Educator. A new category -Outstanding Veteran Owned Edison Business Award was added this year. Anyone can nominate. Self nominations are welcome. Nomination submission deadline is March 31 to the Edison Chamber of Commerce, 336 Raritan Center Parkway, Edison, NJ 08837. A 100-350 word narrative is required and should include why the nominee is worthy of the prestigious Edison honor. The explanation should include the distinguished contributions to the betterment of the Edison Township economic vitality and quality of life. The nomination form can be viewed on the Edison Chamber of Commerce website; and can be found at the Edison Township Libraries. The nominator must be indentified with the submission in order to be contacted by the committee. Nominations will be reviewed by committee of peers during the first week of April and award recipients announcement will be by April 16th. We're looking for the best chili in Woodbridge! Review the rules and fill out the registration form below for your chance to win! FIRST PLACE- $300 SECOND PLACE- $200 THIRD PLACE- $100 REGISTRATION IS LIMITED, SO PLEASE SECURE YOUR SPOT TODAY! CONTESTANT RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Chili is defined as any kind of meat or combination of meats that is cooked with red or green chili peppers, various spices, and other ingredients. Meat sauce pasta dishes are not considered chili. 2. Contestants are responsible for supplying any and all of their chili ingredients. 3. Chili is to be cooked prior to the cook-off and transported to JJ Bittings already heated to proper temperature on the day of the event in your own crock pot. JJ bittings will supply you with a table, electrical outlet, tasting cups, plastic utensils for tasting and bread for dipping. 4. Each contestant is required to cook a minimum of 2 gallons of chili. 5. You must provide your ingredients with this registration form as well as at the contest. Please also rate the heat of your chili on a scale of 1-5 (5being the hottest). This will help inform the public on the day of the contest. 6. Click here to vote Here is their story We were high school sweethearts. Even though we didn't stay together after school, I always loved him. 19 years later, he came looking for me. It was like no time had passed... we fell in love all over again. A few years later, I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. I was very sick for 2 years, and went through numerous surgeries and chemotherapy. He was there with me, through it all. And shortly after my chemotherapy ended, he proposed to me and my bald head. When I got the news that the cancer was gone, we celebrated by spending a week at Couples Swept Away. It was the most beautiful place we had ever been. I was feeling very nervous about how I looked. My hair was just starting to grow in, and my body had changed from all of the surgeries, but, he told me how beautiful I was. That was 4 years ago. We were married 2 years later, and wanted desperately to return to Couples Swept Away for our honeymoon, but, the remaining medical bills were large and looming, and finances did not allow it. This place is more than just a beautiful location to us... it's the reminder of a celebration of being alive... and of our beautiful life together.

Congratulations to New Brunswick's Bravest. The New Brunswick Fire Department won the People's Choice Award at the Cooked and Uncorked Fireman's Cookoff on Monday. The event boasted about 50 local restaurants and almost 1,000 people enjoying the tastes of New Jersey. The Edison Chamber of Commerce offer a similar event on Monday, March 19 at the Pines Manor, the Middlesex County College Alumni Association hosts on at the College in April and the Piscataway Rotary Club hosts a taste of Piscataway at the Radisson in May. Details will be included in future newsletters.

Do you know where the Christmas Decorated Houses are located? Please submit a comment and we will add them to the map. It's great fun to travel around to see the best holiday light displays. Take a minute to read the description. Most houses have a lot of holiday lights, only a few homes are really decorated with tons of lights and other holiday displays.

This year Americans will give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Yes there is! It's time to think outside the box, people. Who says a gift needs to fit in a shirt box, wrapped in Chinese produced wrapping paper? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` Everyone -- yes EVERYONE gets their hair cut. How about gift certificates from your local American hair salon or barber? Gym membership? It's appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some health improvement. Who wouldn't appreciate getting their car detailed? Small, American owned detail shops and car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate or a book of gift certificates. Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave your server a nice tip. And, how about going out to see a play or ballet at your hometown theatre. Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands. Honestly, people, do you REALLY need to buy another ten thousand Chinese lights for the house? When you buy a five dollar string of light, about fifty cents stays in the community. If you have those kinds of bucks to burn, leave the mailman, trash guy or babysitter a nice BIG tip. You see, Christmas is no longer about draining American pockets so that China can build another glittering city. Christmas is now about caring about US, encouraging American small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. Toy Drive Set For Saturday, December 10th Bridgewater, NJ- The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots and manager Sparky Lyle have announced that they will host their annual Holiday Toy Drive at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday, December 10th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Fans will be able to bring unwrapped toys to the Somerset Patriots Team Store located at the ballpark throughout the day. All toys will be donated to Foster Adoptive Family Services of New Jersey for those less fortunate. Lyle will be at the event to meet fans, sign autographs, and take pictures from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The Patriots will welcome Santa Claus, who will take pictures with children at the ballpark. Fans will have the opportunity to take photos and get autographs from Somerset Patriots Mascot Sparkee and his pal Slider. “This is a special holiday event that both Sparky and our entire staff looks forward every year. We have a tremendous group of fans that help us collect hundreds of toys for those less fortunate and help bring a little holiday cheer to those who need it, ” said Patrick McVerry, President/ General Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club. The Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce proudly presents the 58th Annual Winter Festival Parade. This year’s theme is “The Season of Giving.” In these tough times, it’s great to pull together as a community to support those in need. There will be food collection bins placed along the parade route to help replenish our local community food bank for the holiday season. The event is scheduled for Sunday, November 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM. All groups are welcome to march! Registration is required and must be received by the Chamber office prior to November 21st. * The Scarlet Pub has a history as rich as New Brunswick and Rutgers University itself. This pub has been at 131 Easton Ave, New Brunswick since the 1970’s (though under different owners). If you aren’t familiar with the renowned Easton Avenue bar scene in New Brunswick, you are truly missing out. During the day, Easton Avenue is a diverse cultural center situated in the heart of New Brunswick, surrounded by stores, restaurants, hospitals, and university buildings. However, at night and especially on weekends, this street becomes the center of New Brunswick and adjacent towns’ night life. A series of bars and taverns make Easton Avenue an ideal pub crawl spot, each bar having its’ own unique character and atmosphere. Scarlet Pub, located at one end of the bar and tavern strip, is a must. During the evening when the crowds haven’t come out yet, you can catch a game while enjoying some great drink specials. Before the hustle and bustle of the night really kicks in, it’s a great spot to grab a beer or two and play some darts as well. Scarlet Pub has probably one of the best dart boards in New Brunswick, away from the crowd and with tables to set down your drinks. The bartenders are quick with your drinks and very attentive, even in the late hours when the crowd becomes overwhelming to the average bartender, you will not have to wait long. Once midnight hits, the quiet serenity transforms to an exciting music-filled bar filled with people. Local DJ’s play great music and it becomes almost a completely different bar, taking on a club-esque feel. Overall, this is a great bar with a great atmosphere and a great crowd.

A music-packed night, to benefit local families, who suffered losses from hurricane Irene. With the cooperation of The Red Cross, we will be raising money to help our neighbors. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you see the Highland Park Artists Collective’s entries into the 7th annual Highland Park “Arts in the Park” juried art show taking place on Sunday, September 25, 2011, from 11:30 am ‘till 4:30 pm. “Arts in the Park” takes place on Raritan Avenue in the Borough’s downtown area. It consists of paintings, sculpture, photography, drawings, green (recycled) art, and fine crafts. The HP Art Collective will have 10 of its members displaying work in each of the areas listed above. Collective members have shown their work in this art fair since its inception. We have shown our work at the Lotus Studios, the Highland Park Library, Highland Park Open Studios, Highland Park Window Art exhibition, the State Theatre in New Brunswick and the Meadowlands Flyaway Gallery. We have also exhibited in many local stores, and restaurants. Members of the Collective also house their own shows, and many are prize winners in juried shows throughout central Jersey. Main Street Highland Park, the downtown Highland Park Farmers’ Market and the Pulte Group are sponsoring the second annual Restaurant Week in the borough. Seven restaurants will offer three course, pre-fixed meals for $17.66 from today through Sunday. The $17.66 pre-fixed price is a tribute to Rutgers University’s founding year. “We’re really excited to be able to offer restaurant week for the second time in Highland Park. Last year’s event was very successful,” said Main Street Highland Park (MSHP) Acting Executive Director Paul Lanaris. “It’s an opportunity to showcase restaurants and for residents and visitors to dine at establishments that they might not have tried. And in a tough economy, it’s hard to beat three courses for $17.66.” MSHP is the non-profit that promotes businesses along Raritan Avenue in the borough. The event culminates on the same day as the Seventh Annual Highland Park Arts Festival, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Raritan Avenue will be shut down to traffic to give artists from around the state space to showcase their work. “This will help turn the downtown into an open-air café. People can sit and eat outdoors and look at art and jewelry,” Lanaris said. The Lola Latin Bistro is moving to its new location, a larger restaurant with outdoor, al fresco dining. I'm not sure when it will open, but I am guessing by the middle of September. The 30th Annual Raritan River Festival will be Sunday, September 18 The First Raritan River Festival was held on August 16th, 1980 as part of the 300th Anniversary Celebration of the City of New Brunswick. Hundreds of people crowded the banks of the river to watch parades of decorated boats, raft races, canoe races and to witness the arrival of Folk Music Legend, Pete Seeger on the good ship Clearwater. In his welcome letter, Festival Chairman,M.J. (Mac) Babcock wrote: "Historically the development of Central New Jersey was based largely on the utilization of the Raritan River to transport people and goods. Most of this commerce was centered around the head of navigation at New Brunswick." As the years went by, the construction of Route 18 severed the city of New Brunswick from her river, and new generations of New Brunswick children grew up without an understanding of the historical role that river transportation played in the development of the City. The festival's goal is to bring New Brunswick back together with the Raritan River and, in Dr. Babcock's words, "demonstrate the recreational and artistic potential of our riverfront." The festival has been awarded "Living Legend" status by the United States Library of Congress and continues to strive to combine community entertainment and celebration with environmental awareness and action.

The Somerset Patriots will begin a six game home stand on Wednesday, August 31st and host Hurricane Relief Night on Saturday, September 3rd. In response to the flooding and aftermath of Hurricane Irene, the Somerset Patriots will host Hurricane Relief Night at TD Bank Ballpark for the 7:05 pm game against the Long Island Ducks on Saturday, September 3rd. All fans will receive complimentary tickets to the game to be able to enjoy a night out with family and friends at TD Bank Ballpark on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. "This is our opportunity to bring some joy back to those affected by the hurricane and flooding in the area. We are fortunate to be able to provide this service to those that are still dealing with the aftermath of the storm. Old Raritan Road will be closed during operational hours (see above). Cars traveling south along Raritan Avenue from Scotch Plains must make a left turn onto Inman Avenue. A – Woodland Avenue will be closed to all but bus traffic between Oak Tree Road and Maple Avenue. While this intersection of Woodland Avenue is planned to be open for vehicular traffic, we strongly encourage motorists to avoid this area as traffic delays are expected. Southbound traffic on Woodland Avenue, coming from Plainfield will be diverted westbound on Maple Avenue only. Motorists will not be permitted to turn left onto Old Raritan Road. Q – Will detours be set up to aid motorists? A –Yes. Traffic from Oak Tree Road in Edison and South Plainfield seeking to travel north on Woodland Avenue will be detoured northbound on park Avenue. The eastbound lanes of Inman Avenue will be utilized by the shuttle buses for the event. Should tournament play necessitate it, Inman Avenue will be closed and detours posted Q- Can I get to the Care One at the Highlands facility on Inman Avenue or the Woodlands Nursing Home on Woodland Avenue? A – Yes Q – I live on Woodland Avenue on one of the side streets off of Woodland Avenue in Edison. How do I get to my home? A – Residents that live on Woodland Avenue or on a side street on the Edison side of Woodland Avenue will be issued passes for their vehicles. (HIGHLAND PARK, NJ) Aug. 12, 2011 – The Streetscape Project, which will implement improvements between Second and Fifth avenues in Highland Park, begins Monday. “This has been five to seven years in the making,” Highland Park Councilman Padraic Millet told about 50 people who gathered at The Meeting Point in the borough Wednesday night for the project update and to honor Main Street Highland Park (MSHP) volunteers. Streetscape involves replacing the sidewalks between the curb and the storefronts in the three blocks, planting about 60 trees, installing rain gardens or greenery, bike racks, flag poles, trash receptacles and “living rooms,” which will feature two benches, a table and lamp at selected intersections. The equipment will be moved into the borough Monday and work is expected to begin Wednesday, Millet said. “You will have a finished look and it will invite people to hang out,” he said of the project, which is being overseen by ConQuest out of Westwood. After reviewing the drawings, Roz Beberman, a Highland Park resident, said “I like the concept of having a place to sit. It pulls the town together.” Replacement of the sidewalks will begin on the north side of Fifth Avenue and workers will move south to Second Avenue. The sidewalk work is expected to take six to eight weeks. The entire project should be completed by late fall. The project is estimated to cost $2.2 million and is being funded by state and federal grants and a zero-interest loan secured by MSHP. Millet said the ConQuest project manager wants to complete the work with very little disruption to the businesses. “He gets it. He understands that the businesses have to be accessible. He will make sure there’s a safe walking path,” he said. Business owners between Second and Fifth avenues can expect to have their walkways disrupted for part of two days during the project.

I don't know if other people are as excited about new restaurants as I am. During my stroll through Metuchen yesterday I saw there will be a new coffee shop opening in the fall, and the Red Monk Asian Bistro should be opening soon. It is in the same building as Spice Melange. The 365 Bistro is still under construction on Stelton Road in South Plainfield by the exit for routes 287. It is attached to the Best Western Hotel and should open the summer of 2011. I don't have any contact info about them, I suggest that you stop by the Best Western before 3 on weekdays for info. There is a new Wine Chateau in Metuchen and a new restaurant will open in July as its neighbor, more details will be posted when they are available.

The 5th of May is not Mexican Independence Day, but it should be! And Cinco de Mayo is not an American holiday, but it should be. Mexico declared its independence from mother Spain on midnight, the 15th of September, 1810. And it took 11 years before the first Spanish soldiers were told and forced to leave Mexico. So, why Cinco de Mayo? And why should Americans savor this day as well? Because 4,000 Mexican soldiers smashed the French and traitor Mexican army of 8,000 at Puebla, Mexico, 100 miles east of Mexico City on the morning of May 5, 1862. The French had landed in Mexico (along with Spanish and English troops) five months earlier on the pretext of collecting Mexican debts from the newly elected government of democratic President (and Indian) Benito Juarez. The English and Spanish quickly made deals and left. The French, however, had different ideas. Under Emperor Napoleon III, who detested the United States, the French came to stay. They brought a Hapsburg prince with them to rule the new Mexican empire. His name was Maximilian; his wife, Carolota. Napoleon's French Army had not been defeated in 50 years, and it invaded Mexico with the finest modern equipment and with a newly reconstituted Foreign Legion. The French were not afraid of anyone, especially since the United States was embroiled in its own Civil War. The French Army left the port of Vera Cruz to attack Mexico City to the west, as the French assumed that the Mexicans would give up should their capital fall to the enemy -- as European countries traditionally did. Under the command of Texas-born General Zaragosa, (and the cavalry under the command of Colonel Porfirio Diaz, later to be Mexico's president and dictator), the Mexicans awaited. Brightly dressed French Dragoons led the enemy columns. The Mexican Army was less stylish. General Zaragosa ordered Colonel Diaz to take his cavalry, the best in the world, out to the French flanks. In response, the French did a most stupid thing; they sent their cavalry off to chase Diaz and his men, who proceeded to butcher them. The remaining French infantrymen charged the Mexican defenders through sloppy mud from a thunderstorm and through hundreds of head of stampeding cattle stirred up by Indians armed only with machetes. When the battle was over, many French were killed or wounded and their cavalry was being chased by Diaz' superb horsemen miles away. The Mexicans had won a great victory that kept Napoleon III from supplying the confederate rebels for another year, allowing the United States to build the greatest army the world had ever seen. This grand army smashed the Confederates at Gettysburg just 14 months after the battle of Puebla, essentially ending the Civil War. Union forces were then rushed to the Texas/Mexican border under General Phil Sheridan, who made sure that the Mexicans got all the weapons and ammunition they needed to expel the French. American soldiers were discharged with their uniforms and rifles if they promised to join the Mexican Army to fight the French. The American Legion of Honor marched in the Victory Parade in Mexico, City. It might be a historical stretch to credit the survival of the United States to those brave 4,000 Mexicans who faced an army twice as large in 1862. But who knows? In gratitude, thousands of Mexicans crossed the border after Pearl Harbor to join the U.S. Armed Forces. As recently as the Persian Gulf War, Mexicans flooded American consulates with phone calls, trying to join up and fight another war for America. Mexicans, you see, never forget who their friends are, and neither do Americans. That's why Cinco de Mayo is such a party -- A party that celebrates freedom and liberty. STROKE IDENTIFICATION: During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ....she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this. A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough. RECOGNIZING A STROKE Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions: S *Ask the individual to SMILE. T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK ASIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. It is sunny out today.) R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

If you, like me, walk as well as roll, then you should be interested in the 2011 Cross-Jersey Walking Challenge from the East Coast Greenway Alliance and FreeWalkers.org. The program is free and open to the public, challenging individuals to walk 100 miles across the entire state – from Trenton to New York City within the next 12 months – along the East Coast Greenway. The East Coast Greenway runs the length of the Eastern seaboard from the top of Maine all the way to Key West, a total distance of about 3,000 miles. This program will be your ticket to local adventures and to places in NJ you may not seen up close before. Join in with other walkers and advocates of alternative transportation in helping build better and healthier communities. Move and be part of the movement. Old Bay Restaurant Review: New Orleans Meets New Brunswick by Tiffani N. Garlic of The Star Ledger: As soon as you walk into Old Bay in downtown New Brunswick, you're met with a comfortable atmosphere where bartenders may not know your name right away, but they definitely recognize your face and what you're drinking. The music is just loud enough to make the person you're talking to shout, but low enough that you understand what they're saying. For a cover charge of less than $5, the bar and restaurant does its best to transport visitors to New Orleans. Covered in rich purples, greens and golds, the French Quarter bistro-inspired restaurant is accented with wrought iron railings, gargoyle wall sconces, elaborate murals of masquerade masks and other Mardi Gras fare. The multi-room bar and lounge sports two bars, a cafe level, a dining section, an indoor balcony and outside seating that is open year-round. "I want people to feel welcome," said general manager Pat Pipi. "It's a high-energy place and a good time." Established 24 years ago on the corner of Church Street, Old Bay served as an alternative seafood restaurant in New Brunswick and slowly grew into one of the more popular nightlife haunts in the downtown area, Pipi said. Every week, the restaurant brings in DJs and local rock bands to get bar-hoppers grooving. Jam bands such as Natural Breakdown and Big Wake have built a following on the tiny but busy dance floor. Old Bay's biggest event of the year is Mardi Gras, where beads, drinks and music flow until 2 a.m. The celebration, which falls on March 8 this year, is an exciting display of colors and music as festival enthusiasts come decked out in their most colorful (or outrageous) Carnival regalia, and compete in a costume contest and a raffle. The low-pressure atmosphere draws a mix of college students, young professionals and more mature patrons. Most of the action is in the front bar; it tends to get crowded, so be prepared to be smushed against your barmates. Moving toward the back there is plenty of seating for those who want to converse with friends. When patrons need a break from the dim lighting and the din of the crowd, there is an outside area where everyone sits on tall iron stools and takes advantage of heat lamps or a cool breeze, depending on the weather. Regulars Michael Burke and Brett Farr, who have been coming to Old Bay's "Thirsty Thursday" for half-priced drinks for the past decade, said it is a comfortable place to meet up with friends and have a good time. "Before 10 p.m. it's a family-friendly restaurant, and then after 10 p.m. a little more of the nightlife club atmosphere comes out," said Burke, 37, of Somerset. "It's not a club, but if you want the feel of one, it's here." Farr, 46, of Somerset, said bartenders know what he's drinking before he even asks. "It makes you feel special," he said. "They know that customer service is important and that's what keeps me coming back." Jimmy White, 29, moved from Chicago last year and has made the New Brunswick night spot his second home. "There's live music, great drink specials, personable bartenders -- it's just fun," he said. When one thinks about New Brunswick, they think about Rutgers. To the average Rutgers college student over twenty-one, New Brunswick is the ideal city for restaurants, entertainment, and bars. Easton Avenue and George Street are home to many of these establishments. However, off the beaten path there are many great bars including McCormick's at 266 Somerset Street. McCormick's is a diamond in the rough. The bar's appearance from the outside is nothing special, almost blending in with the houses surrounding it, but to this writer it is definitely part of it's charm. The interior of the bar is pretty basic with dark lighting, beer and liquor signs, and Irish-American themes throughout. I was truly reminded of the "old hole in the wall dive bars," my father told me about it. They have by far one of the best juke boxes ever with some great eccentric hits. After a few pints who doesn't want to blast Andrew W.K.'s "Party Hard." That combined with a great pool table, dart board, and old school retro video games makes McCormick's more than just a sit down and get wasted bar (though no one would complain if you did). When it comes to drinks, McCormick's is one of my top picks The prices were awesome with cheap pints and pitchers. They have a great selection of bottled beers ranging from the Guinness line to seasonal specialties by select microbreweries. Also, to this writer's surprise they had root beer schnapps! The only problem I had was Guinness not being on tap. With a name lick McCormick's that just should not happen! The bartenders were also by far the most hospitable and polite bartenders I've come across in New Brunswick. The two bartenders I met, Nick and "Machine," were very attentive with my drink orders and had no problem making up a cocktail, even obscure orders like nine kamikazes or three German root beers. The overall feel of the bar was very warm and inviting. For new college students looking for a real hangout and a bar to become "regulars" at, McCormick's is a great choice. This is one bar that has it all, great and CHEAP DRINKS, great staff, cool locals, awesome atmosphere, live shows, and did I mention CHEAP FOOD most nights? You just can't beat it. This writer is definitely looking forward to their St. Patrick's Day celebration.
