Traffic Restrictions
The Plainfield Country Club will be hosting the Barclays Golf Tournament during the week of August 22- 29, 2011. The Edison Police Department is issuing the following advisory notice:
Hours of Operation
The Barclays Golf Tournament will operate daily from 6:00 AM until 9:00 PM beginning on Monday, August 22, 2011. It will continue during these hours until 9:00 PM Sunday, August 28, 2011. A make-up day is scheduled for Monday August 29 and will only be used if needed. Residents will be notified if that occurs.

WOODLAND AVENUE
Woodland Avenue shall be designated as a ONE WAY road. All motorists traveling along Woodland Avenue shall proceed NORTH only. Woodland Avenue shall remain a ONE WAY road for 24 hours per day. The ONE WAY restriction will end at 9:00 PM Sunday, August, 28, 2011 unless otherwise posted.
Anytime motorists intend to travel along Woodland Avenue, they shall enter Woodland Avenue from Oak Tree Road.
All side streets intersecting Woodland Avenue from South Plainfield will be permanently closed
for the duration of the event. Jersey Barriers will block intersections where the side streets meet
Woodland Avenue. South Plainfield neighborhoods, except those with driveways on Woodland
Avenue, are asked to use Park Avenue as an alternative route.
Only Woodland Avenue residents, event personnel, and guests of neighborhood residents will
be granted access to Woodland Avenue during daily operational times (see above).
DURING EVENT HOURS:
There will be a roadblock located just north of Giggleswick Way and Dolores Avenue. Motorists
traveling north along Woodland Avenue must exit onto Dolores Avenue and shall not be
permitted any further. Only buses and essential event personnel will be permitted to travel
beyond this point. This restriction will be lifted each day at 9 PM.
Police officers will be available at the intersection of Oak Tree Road and Woodland Avenue to
control access. If a Woodland Avenue resident has a specific request, they can tell the officer and
he will refer the request to the command post. All efforts will be made to accommodate Edison and
South Plainfield residents living in neighborhoods along Woodland Avenue.
INMAN AVENUE
Inman Avenue will not be restricted. However, at the intersection of Inman Avenue and Old
Raritan Road, motorists shall turn right and proceed north. Left turns onto Old Raritan Road
will not be permitted. This restriction will be lifted at 9 PM daily. (see Old Raritan Road)
OLD RARITAN ROAD
Old Raritan Road will be closed at Woodland Avenue.
Any motorists traveling south along Woodland Avenue from Scotch Plains or Plainfield must
turn right onto Maple Avenue. Left turns onto Old Raritan Road will not be permitted
during operational hours (see above). This restriction will be lifted at 9 PM daily.
Old Raritan Road will be closed during operational hours (see above). Cars traveling
south along Raritan Avenue from Scotch Plains must make a left turn onto Inman Avenue. This
restriction will be lifted at 9 PM daily.
Motorists are advised to seek other routes of travel and to avoid the area as
traffic delays are expected.
New Jersey State Administrative Code 8:24 prohibits selling or serving food or beverages from
any residence or home. NJAC 8:24 allo
Q – Will woodland Avenue be open during the tournament?
A – Woodland Avenue will be closed to all but bus traffic between Oak Tree Road and Maple Avenue. Woodland Avenue will be designated a one-way traffic street northbound for the duration of the tournament.
Q – Will Woodland Avenue between maple and Sprague Avenue be open to traffic?
A – Yes. While this intersection of Woodland Avenue is planned to be open for vehicular traffic, we strongly encourage motorists to avoid this area as traffic delays are expected. Southbound traffic on Woodland Avenue, coming from Plainfield will be diverted westbound on Maple Avenue only. Motorists will not be permitted to turn left onto Old Raritan Road.
Q – Will detours be set up to aid motorists?
A –Yes. Traffic from Oak Tree Road in Edison and South Plainfield seeking to travel north on Woodland Avenue will be detoured northbound on park Avenue. They will then be detoured east on South End parkway in Plainfield and back onto Woodland Avenue. Traffic traveling southbound on Woodland Avenue in Plainfield will be detoured west on South End parkway and the south onto Park Avenue.
Q – Will Inman Avenue in Edison be open for vehicular traffic?
A – Tentatively, yes. Westbound traffic on Inman Avenue will be diverted north on Old Raritan Road into Scotch Plains. The eastbound lanes of Inman Avenue will be utilized by the shuttle buses for the event. Should tournament play necessitate it, Inman Avenue will be closed and detours posted
Q- Can I get to the Care One at the Highlands facility on Inman Avenue or the Woodlands Nursing Home on Woodland Avenue?
A – Yes
Q – I live on Woodland Avenue on one of the side streets off of Woodland Avenue in Edison. How do I get to my home?
A – Residents that live on Woodland Avenue or on a side street on the Edison side of Woodland Avenue will be issued passes for their vehicles. They must display the passes to Police Officers at the traffic post at Oak Tree Road and Woodland Avenue.
Q- Will trash collection, mail delivery and other services (landscapers, cleaning services, etc) continue if I live on Woodland Avenue and the surrounding areas?
A – Yes. These vital services will continue uninterrupted during the tournament. Police will permit access into the closed areas by these and other servic
